Hospitality

Our student chaplaincy has got a very hospitable venue in the Cobbenhagenlaan. For many years this venue has been a place of residence for various student-bodies and study-groups, on special occasions or permanently. We name the Christian Ichthus, the Roman Catholic Peerke Donders, Media Vitae and Sapientia Ludenda of the faculty of humanities, the University Choir Contrast and some Islamic student-bodies, but also many student-year-groups from Fontys.

Internationally we do our bit as well.

TUNIC (Tilburg University International Club), GSS (Graduate Student Society) and AEGEE Tilburg (Association des États Géneraux des Étudiants de l’Europe) know they can count on us. And did you know that the Maranatha is the TIK-committee HQ during the TIK-week?

A religious oasis in student life

The student chaplaincy is its own independent ‘hostel’ which shelters a broad variety of student groups to catch their breath in the middle of student life. Also we accommodate happily for lectures, small conferences, meetings, jam-sessions, celebrations like a graduation-party and of course liturgical and of spiritual worship.

Maranatha is a meeting place

Our top priority will always be student-activities. Every year many hundreds of students meet one another in meetings, worship, meals and more in our student chaplaincy. Maranatha is a meeting place. Meeting one another is part of the essence of our existence. Besides group activities we offer the possibility of personal time with our pastor. Everything in the areas of faith, hope and love – everything which has to do with your life - can be subject of such a meeting. There is room for your worries, your vulnerable thoughts, your path-seeking in life, your doubts and uncertainties. Naturally there is room for faith-issues and the things you’ve found and or seek as your life’s principles. The student chaplaincy stands in the centre of daily student-life and ‘evangelisation’ is a dirty word for us.

The open, Catholic identity of the higher education in Tilburg is not an empty word. At least not yet… The student chaplaincy is allowed a special place at the University of Tilburg and the Fontys schools in Tilburg. It could become such a place in your life as well.

English Holy Mass

Tilburg is an international city with over 200.000 citizens, where Roman Catholics from many different origins have made their temporary or even permanent home. In order to facilitate this international community there will be an English Holy Mass on every second Sunday of the month in the Saint Dionysius Church (‘t Heike) at 5:00 PM.
The first Holy Mass will be on the 14th of March, followed by the 11th of April, the 9th of May, the 13th of June and the 11th of July.
You can find our church in the centre of town: Stadhuisstraat 6 (opposite the Town Hall). All are welcome!

The english Mass is an initiative of the parish of Central Tilburg. The english Mass is celebrated by father Jeroen Miltenburg and father Karel Loodts, assistant priest.
